My Christmas @ the Lake - Cake
I had this idea several years ago. I read someplace, probably online, that if you baked cake mix in water fountain tapered cups you could frost it and have a Pine Tree.
We had quite a time finding the tapered paper water cups and when we finally did it was way past Christmas but we bought a box anyway. That was probably three years ago.
This year, with Christmas approaching I thought of it again.
I came up with the idea for the road, fence, lake and paths on my own. The "rocks" are chocolate candy with a coating that looks like rock or stone. The path is of the same candy which came in a mix of many different shapes, colors, and sizes.
The fence is large and smaller pretzels held together with frosting.
The road's surface is coarse, organic, brown, sugar, some mixed colored sugars, and some chocolate jimmies which are all regular decorations for cookies at the Christmas Season.
I think it turned out pretty good.
Originally the red (larger) stone path went back to an outhouse but it broke in too many pieces (when I tried to put the roof on) to put it back together, so another tree was added instead.
Merry Christmas to all my flickr friends!
Juliana, my oldest had the idea of creating a snowman! This one is the result (with a little bit of my help)! This was my favorite one!
Like many families we have some traditions during Xmas. I always make sugar cookies with the girls so we can leave some for Santa. I roll the dough and let them do whatever they want, using our cookie cutters, or just their imagination. After baking them, I tried to help them decorate with red and green icing. Here is the result of our work. I hope Santa enjoyed the gift as much as I enjoyed making them with my daughters.
